Description

The Media Education Foundation (MEF), a nonprofit organization that produces and distributes documentary films about the social, political, and cultural impact of American mass media, is seeking a full-time Marketing Coordinator for a temporary, 6-month position. We are looking for a detail-oriented, organized, media savvy, multitasker, who works well independently as well as with a team. Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Coordinate the execution of marketing plans for new film releases.
  • Monitor and execute social media outreach and email campaigns.
  • Assist with creating, updating, and maintaining website content and design, including special landing pages, blog posts, and thematic content.
  • Ensure that messages are supportive of and consistent with marketing strategies.
  • Make arrangements for exhibitions at conferences and prepare conference materials.
  • Write copy for conference materials as needed.
  • Assist with additional marketing tasks on an as-needed basis.
  • Implement strategies from annual marketing plan as assigned.
  • Organize and promote screenings of new videos locally, as well as at conferences and other national events.
  • Assist with public relations efforts. Pursue and seek out opportunities to have videos reviewed in online, print, and other sources.
  • Proofread marketing materials, with particular attention to pricing and ordering information.
  • Assist with maintenance of house print and E-mail mailing lists.
  • Send marketing materials to events and conferences.
  • Stay abreast of developments in print, direct mail, and Internet marketing.
  • Serve as a daily direct client contact for client and community relationships.
  • Provide front office/distribution coverage and assistance when needed, including answering phones.
  • Deliver exceptional project coordination and customer service.
  • Coordinate broadcast licensing requests.
  • Coordinate premium requests from radio and television stations.
  • Identify externally produced videos for potential distribution and make initial contact with prospects.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Marketing, Communications, or similar area of study.
  • One to three years of marketing or marketing related experience preferred.
  • Must demonstrate outstanding project coordination and customer service skills.
  • Organized with excellent attention to detail. Must thrive on variety and be able to shift directions seamlessly while maintaining quality work.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with basic HTML and/or WordPress a plus.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, a plus
  • Experience with Salesforce a plus.
  • Candidate is a highly motivated self-starter who takes direction well, but can also work independently.
  • Familiarity with and support of MEF’s general mission is essential.
