Does your film have captions?

Accessibility is a priority for us at MEF—that’s why all video content on the MEF Platform includes English captions. We’re proud of the quality of our subtitles—the vast majority of them have been human-generated. Read this article to learn how to enable subtitles, select your subtitle language, or request subtitles in another language through the MEF platform.

How to enable subtitles on your video

To turn on English subtitles for your film, please click on the “CC” button on the playback bar.

Once enabled, the “CC” button will have a grey fill, and subtitles will appear on the lower quarter of the video.

If finalized English subtitles are not available yet (typically for a title that’s newly released), AI-generated auto captions will be provided automatically.

Subtitles in Other Languages

In addition to English captions, a few of our films are available with human-generated subtitles in Spanish and French:

Need subtitles in a different language?

If you need subtitles in a language that we don’t currently offer, we can provide AI-generated translations of the film’s transcript for any streaming MEF film in the following languages:

• Arabic
• Chinese
• Czech
• French
• German
• Hebrew
• Italian
• Japanese
• Portuguese (Brazil)
• Portuguese (Portugal)
• Russian
• Spanish
• Turkish
• Ukranian

To request a transcript in one of these languages, please send us an email at [email protected].Once your request is processed, we’ll reach out and let you know when the video has been updated to include the new AI-generated subtitles on our platform.

Subtitles on DVDs

Please note that subtitle availability varies by title and may not be the same across formats – for example, some films may have subtitles on the streaming platform but not on DVD, while others may have them on both.
