The Blind Spot of Masculinity Book Cover

The cover for Don McPherson’s new book You Throw Like a Girl: The Blind Spot of Masculinity (Edge of Sports Books, 2019).

We’re thrilled to announce that we’ll be distributing a new film from award-winning filmmakers Peter Hutchison and Lucas Sabean based on the critically acclaimed book You Throw Like a Girl: The Blind Spot of Masculinity, by former Syracuse University quarterback and NFL veteran Don McPherson. In the film, McPherson, a prominent educator and activist in the gender-violence prevention field, contends that instead of raising boys to be men, we raise them not to be women, reinforcing a narrow and negative definition of masculinity that adversely affects women and creates “blind spots” that hinder the healthy development of men. Using examples from his own life, including his storied football career and his decades of experience working with athletes on these issues, McPherson ultimately points us toward positive solutions that engage boys and men in sustained and healthy dialogue.

Sign up below for updates on when the film will be available. And in the meantime, be sure to pre-order the highly acclaimed film  Requiem for the American Dream, featuring Noam Chomsky, which was also co-directed by Peter Hutchison.
