In this important, powerful, and timely lecture, Amy Goodman -- independent journalist and host of the popular radio show Democracy Now! -- speaks about the corporate media's coverage of the 2003 Iraq War. She discusses the way that the U.S. media downplayed civilian causalities and glorified military combat, and she asks her audience to consider the costs of coverage that is both sanitized and sensationalized. Amy Goodman

Amy Goodman is an American progressive broadcast journalist and author. A 1984 graduate of Harvard University, Goodman is best known as the principal host of Pacifica Radio's Democracy Now! program, where she has been described by the Los Angeles Times as "radio's voice of the disenfranchised left". Coverage of the peace and human rights movements - and support of the independent media - are the hallmarks of her work. As an investigative journalist, she has received acclaim for exposes of human rights violations in East Timor and Nigeria.
